South takes pair of games this week
Rose pitches no-hitter

South had hits from Kieghlea Owens, Emily Nobbe, Britney
Apperson, Haley Holdreith, Ashleigh Ewing and Krista Galloway to
back up the pitching of Chasity Rose in a 4-0 victory that featured a
no-hitter.
In her gem, Rose issued no walks and struck out three and enjoyed
good defensive support behind her.
“Defensively we played well tonight and hit the ball pretty good,”
reported South Decatur’s coach Lisa Huff. “We still left too many
runners on base. Chasity pitched a good ball game tonight.”

Monday night the Cougars also posted an 8-3 win over conference
foe Morristown. South used a six-run third inning to seize control of
the game and were not seriously threatened the rest of the way.
South got hits from Owens, Jamie Huff, Apperson, Holdreith, Ewing,
Jackie Hobbs and Rose. Holdreith had three RBIs and Hobbs a
home run and two RBIs.

Junior Pirate golfers defeat Cougars
The South Decatur Junior High school boys’ and girls’ golf teams
traveled to Greensburg Country Club Monday evening for dual
matches with Greensburg. The junior Pirates came out on top in
both matches.
The Greensburg Boys shot a team total 195, five strokes better than
South Decatur Boys.
Co-meet medalists, all three with 48's, were Blake Abplanalp of
Greensburg and Dustin Huff and Josh Schwering of South Decatur.
Rounding out the top four team scores for South Decatur were
Michael England 50 and Patrick Graue 54. The additional top scores
for Greensburg were Tyler Merritt, Jordan Kramer and Blake
Gindling, all with 49s.
The Greensburg and South Decatur lady golfers competed in a
six-hole match and Greensburg won a one-stroke victory 184-185.
Ladies’ meet medalist was shared by Greensburg's Nora Stacey
and South Decatur's Courtney Dickson who both shot 44. The other
three scores for the Lady Cougars were Chelsi Gilbert 46, Danielle
Wenning 47 and Natalie Smiley, Tressa Owens, Sarah Horan and
Courtney Beesley, all with 48. The other Greensburg scores were
Sarah Treash 45, Ella Westhafer 47, Hayley Williams 48 and Laykin
Collins 48.
Pirate girls run in EIAC reserve meet at South Dearborn
The freshmen and sophomores on the Pirates girls’ track team participated in an unscored Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference reserve meet on Friday.
