Chargers down Jets 9-4
Eric Brown pitched a complete game as North Decatur
defeated the Hauser Jets 9-4 Monday evening.
“He seemed to get stronger as the game progressed,” reported
Coach Garry Sauley of the Chargers. “We finally hit the ball well and
went with pitches. We haven't been doing that well all year. Hopefully
we can continue that trend throughout the rest of the season.”
Brown got off to a shaky start giving up one run in the first and three
in the third before blanking the Jets the rest of the way.
The Chargers temporarily gained the lead in the top of the third
inning when they scored two runs and took the lead for good by
scoring four times in the fourth inning.
“We had some good defensive plays by John Kirchhoff, Travis
Blodgett and a game-ending play by Neal Ploeger who robbed Nick
Long of a 3-run home run,” Sauley said.
