The baseball team of Batesville American Legion Post 271 traveled to Aurora Saturday to face the legion team of South Dearborn. The home squad broke a 6-6 tie with a game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Shawn Burcham, who relieved Ben Baumer in the first inning was charged with the loss.

Baumer faced just four hitters in the first innings giving up two hits, a walk, a hit batsmen and three runs before Burcham took the hill.

Post 271 fought back with a run in the second and two in the third to knot the score at 3-3.

The squads traded three-spots in the bottom of the third and top of the fourth. Over the next four innings the pitching staffs held the score at 6-6 before South Dearborn won it in the ninth.

Batesville was led by Chris Meyer who went three-for-four with two RBIs and Chris Drew with two doubles and two runs in five tries. Brandon Wallpe and Will Wettering each went two-for-four.
