Edinburgh came out in the first half and played most of the game in
Charger territory, eventually scoring after a high snap eluded Justin
Huber in the backfield. Edinburgh’s Nick Harrison recovered and set
up a 1-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Keith
Burton to Sean Hansen to give the Lancers a 6-0 lead.
At half-time, the Chargers regrouped and took the ball down the field
to knot the score on Steven Speer’s 5-yard run. Adam Warren’s kick
was no good for the go ahead, locking the teams together on the scoreboard for nearly the rest of the game.
In the final period, North Decatur took the lead on a
66-yard punt return by Matt White. This time Warren’s kick was good
and the Chargers had a 13-6 lead.
With 3:04 to go, Burton connected with Devin Burton on a flare out of
the back field. Devin beat the defense to the right corner of the end
zone to give the Lancers their a chance for their first win in three
