North Decatur lost its varsity match to Batesville in three games, 8-25, 21-25, 18-25.
The hard striking Bulldogs gave the Chargers’ hitters significant problems throughout all three matches.
Leading the way for the Chargers were Jill Hammersmith who served seven of seven and had one kill hitting; libero Mindy Koors who served six of six, received 11 of 15 and had 10 digs, Hayley Hayden set 20 of 20 with two assists and three digs, Danielle Trenkamp hit 23 of 27 wit six kills and 4 digs. Clair Metz served eight-of-eight, hit 16 of 20 with five kills and one block, Ann Schwering served 12 of 12; set 38 of 39 with seven assists and three digs.
The Chargers’ record stands at 6-4.
"This definitely wasn't our best match and you could feel the sense that we were out of sync or out of rhythm from game one,” said Coach Betsy Davis. “We came back in game two, but we weren't able to sustain our lead, and game three looked about the same. We're still a great club, but we've got a lot of work yet to do with our mental aspect of the game."
The “C” team lost in two games 25-10 and 25-10.
Angel Schoettmer served five for five with an ace and hit six of six with three kills.
The JV also lost in two games by identical scores of 25 - 21.
Leading the way for the Charger reserves in a losing effort were Kelly Schwering who served five of five; set 32 of 34 with nine assists and five digs, Molly Davis who served 14 of 14, Crystal Koors who hit eight if eight with three kills, Alyson Hoeing who served eight of eight and hit eight of nine with four kills and six digs and Angel Schoettmer who hit 10 of 11 with two kills and three digs.
