Greensburg swept the Spartans of Connersville 5-0 in action on the pirates’ courts Thursday evening.
In winning, the Pirates lost only one set. Connersville’s No. 2 doubles team of Blake Gabbard and Tucker Brown defeated Danny Glaser and John Dougan 3-6 before the Pirate duo rebounded to take the last two sets by identical 6-4 scores.
At No.1 singles, Greg Dougan defeated Trevor Conn 6-3, 6-1; David Dougan defeated Alex Reebsomer 6-0, 6-1; Andrew Dougan defeated Colin Judd 6-2, 6-4 and Elijah Harter and Trevor Schebler defeated Evan Barnes and Matt Bills 6-2, 6-2.
In reserve action Connersville claimed victories at No. 1 and 2 singles as Craig Schebler and Mack Reed both fell 1-8. Brock Weber and Curt Schneider won at doubles 8-4 and 8-5 and Craig Schebler and Tyler Wickens nailed down a victory at 8-6.
Last Saturday, the Pirates No.1 team held a 4-1 lead after splitting the first two sets 1-6 and 6-2 and were unable to close out the match giving Batesville the win. David and Andrew Dougan won at No. 2 and No; 3 singles by scores of 6-1, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-1 respectively.
Glaser and John Dougan lost in straight sets of identical 6-1 scores.
Greg Dougan also lost in two sets of 3-6 each.
