South Decatur played host to Trinity Lutheran Tuesday and suffered
a four-game loss, 24-26, 26-24, 25-23 and 25-15.
“We played better than the score in the last game,” said Coach
Robyn Owens. “We ended up strong. I told them, ‘Just play.’ They
didn’t quit.”
Trinity had a good hitting attack that kept the Lady Cougars off
balance after the first game and led to a number of points.
Statistically for the Lady Cougars; Amber Knapp served 10-of-10,
passed 20-22 and set 32-of-32; Nicole Dougherty served 4-of-4 and
hit 16-of-18 with four kills; Ashleigh Ewing was 12-of-14 with two
aces serving, 40-of-40 setting and 19-of-21 hitting with two kills;
Heather Helms was 18-of-19 serving with an ace and hit 41-of-45
with eight kills; Emily Nobbe was 8-of-9 serving with two aces and
hit 12-of-12 with four kills; Stephanie Kohlman received 40-of-49
shots in the back row; Liz Mauer was 17-of-17 serving with one ace
