Coach Ken Wendling made Friday’s Bucket Game especially

memorable for himself as he collected his 100th coaching victory,

led the Cougars to their 20th Bucket Game victory and chalked

up a win over arch rival North Decatur.

As was expected, previous records coming into the game meant

little as the Chargers did not go quietly into the night. A major stop at

the end of the first half kept North Decatur from recording the tying

touchdown.

“That was a big play, both ways,” Wendling said. “If it went our way

we have momentum going into the half; if they score, they have it.”

Coach Jim Louder of North Decatur viewed that action and other key

plays in the game as being in position.

“We got out of position to make plays,” he said. “And they got them

selves in position to make plays. That was the difference.”

The Cougars got on the board first scoring on their opening
