Shelbyville — The Greensburg boys basketball team overcame a slow start on the road and beat Shelbyville 69-43 Friday night.
The Pirates, who improve to 11-0 overall, got started from long range as senior Sean Sellers shot three consecutive 3-pointers to pull ahead in the first quarter. Greensburg led 17-7 after the first eight minutes.
The Golden Bears (3-5) tried to slow the tempo down, but Greensburg was too much in the second half. The Pirate defense was up to the task, holding Shelbyville to 13 first-half points.
Junior Ryan Welage led all scorers with 20 points, a career-high, shooting 8-for-12 from the foul line.
Sellers followed with 17 points, including a career-high five 3-pointers. Senior Macy Holdsworth followed with 13 points, while senior Bryant McIntosh scored eight. Senior Collin Rigney scored five, including a triple. Senior Tye Fleetwood followed with a 4-for-6 effort at the foul line and senior Brad Wilson chipped in two points.
The Pirates shot 10 triples and went 19-for-27 (70 percent) from the foul line.
The Greensburg junior varsity team improved to 8-0 with a 32-29 win.
