Greensburg — Sophomore Dayne Lecher hit the game-winning basket as the North Decatur boys basketball team prevailed 59-57 over visiting Hauser Friday.
The Chargers and Jets were tied at 14-all at the first stop, but North outscored Hauser 19-8 in the second quarter to go up 33-22 at the half. Sophomore Arek Holloway already had 15 points on a trio of 3-pointers.
Holloway finished with a career-high 24 points on five 3-pointers, and 5-for-6 from the foul line. Holloway converted a big 4-point play to end the third quarter after hitting a trey from the corner.
Hauser outscored North 15-12 in the third quarter and 20-14 in the fourth, but the Chargers stayed composed to set up Lecher’s finish.
Lecher finished with eight points on four baskets. Andrew Hocker scored nine points on a trio of triples, while sophomore Evan Wallpe scored eight.
North’s varsity squad improves to 2-5 overall and 2-1 in the Mid-Hoosier Conference. Hauser is now 3-5 overall and 1-2 in the MHC.
North’s JV team fell to Hauser 36-14. North scored two points in each of the first three quarters, trailing 14-2 after the first stop and 24-4 at halftime. North outscored Hauser, though, 8-4 in the fourth quarter.
Kinker led North with five points on a 3-pointer and a two. Luke Perdue scored four and Justin Weisenbach added two.
