Greensburg elementary opens wrestling action

---- — The Greensburg Elementary wrestling program conducted its first meet Tuesday Feb. 26. The program divided the wrestlers into four teams for a pair of competitive meets.

Green team beats Blue 52-47

The Green team, coached by John Brown, Dave Brogan, Dylan Cain, Devin Ruble and Jacob Ison won 52-47 against the Blue team, coached by Josh Chase, Joel Chase and Blade Cain.

Winning wrestlers for the Green team were Logan Debiase, David Stevens, Ethan Martin, Toby Brogan, Justice Thornton, Nevika Debiase, Trevor Rutan, Logan Debiase, Greg Roszell, Zaila Filler and Zaven Filler.

Also competing for the Green team were Landon Lohr, Robert Eisert, Garrett Knoll, Sam Roszell, Taylen Debiase, Jaden Cochran and Jonathon Ralston.

Winning wrestlers for the Blue team were James Evans, Jacob Koontz, Evan Bannon, Landyn Rader, Johnny Linville, Josh Evans, Alex Dance, Kaden Wood and Oakley Keppel.

Also competing for the Blue team were Hunter Dietrich, Drayden Shackelford, Sage O’Mara, Colten Schroeder, Ryan Henderson, JD Webb, Wyatt Wells and Torre Linville.

Red team tops Orange 54-45

The Red team, coached by Larry Bray, Doug Cain, Dakota Deiwert and Tyler Able won 54-45 against the Orange team, coached by Chad Cordray, Matt Scheumann, Nathan Hayes and Daniel Preuss.

Winning wrestlers for the Red team were Evan Graves, Justin Owens, Oakley Best, Camden Loudin, Matt Boone, Eli Moore, Trae Adams, Evan Bray and Shane Able.

Also competing for the Red team were Caleb Steele, Hayden Forrester, Lane Powell, Karson Templeton, Tyson Bockover, Caleb Hughes, Damien Carpenter, Lakota Tibbett and Lane Powell. Winning wrestlers for the Orange team were Jacob Bottoms, Corbin Cordray, Adam Howard, Damien Howard, Alex Campbell, Carli Imel, Cheyenne Cordray, Peyton Cordray and Spencer Clayton.

Also competing for the Orange team were Braylon Hahn, Joe Shields, Chloe Shreve, Lucas Scheumann, Sophie Shreve and Caleb Robbins.

The wrestling program thanked everyone who came out to support its young wrestlers, and specially thanked all volunteers.

The program thanked its sponsors for helping make the wrestling possible. The sponsors for the Greensburg Elementary Wrestling program are Anytime Fitness, Don Meyer Ford, Walter’s Tire, Tree City Tool, the City of Greensburg, McCament Homes, Dr Eversole DDS, Edward Jones, and Kova.

Many of these wrestlers also completed in a friendship wrestling meet with Connersville and Rushville on Saturday March 1, 2014 at the Greensburg Junior High School.

The next Greensburg Elementary Wrestling meet is scheduled for Thursday March 6, 2014.
