Greensburg — The home court advantage favored two local teams Friday night as the Greensburg boys improved to 7-0 on the season and the North Decatur boys tallied their first win.
Greensburg defeated Class 4A Jennings County 76-52 on the strength of five different scorers in double figures. Senior Bryant McIntosh scored 21 points. Senior Sean Sellers followed with 20, while senior Collin Rigney scored 12. Junior Ryan Welage added 11 points. Senior Tom Lawrence, making a varsity start, scored 10. Sophomore Drew Foster chipped in two.
Greensburg shot 11-for-15 from the foul line and made seven triples.
The Pirate junior varsity team also won, 41-32. Peyton Buening led Greensburg with 13 points. Foster scored eight, while Keegan McCullough (2 triples) and Tommy Carey each added six. Kevin Beaver scored four.
Chargers win first conference game
The North Decatur boys overcame a six-point deficit after the first quarter and rallied to defeat visiting Waldron 50-49.
It signaled the first win in the conference (1-0) and improves the Chargers to 1-4 on the season.
Sophomores Dayne Lecher and Evan Wallpe each scored 16 points for head coach Kyle Nobbe’s squad. Lecher hit four 3-pointers on the night as the Chargers made seven. Andrew Hocker added two more triples (seven points total) and sophomore Luke Badgley added five points with another trey.
Scoring his first career varsity points was Austin Brown with four points.
The Chargers trailed by one point, 26-25, at the half.
The North JV team fell 40-36 in the first game.
South boys fall to Eagles
The South Decatur boys basketball team fell to Class 3A Brown County 58-52 on the road. The Cougars are now 3-5, while the Eagles are 1-3.
