Pirate grapplers second in Columbus

---- — The Greensburg wrestling team competed in the Columbus East invitational Saturday.

The Pirate wrestlers finished second overall out of eight schools, with two champions, five runner-ups, two third-place finishes, and a pair finishing in fifth place.

Greensburg head coach Matt Cochran was pleased to see the success from the East Central win carry over to the weekend.

“We wrestled very well,” said Cochran. “I was pleased with how we competed and with the results. We kept the momentum going from our victory over East Central earlier in the week.”

Seniors Drew Neisius and Joel Chase were champions in their respective weight classes.

Zack Bartosz, Brandon Butz, Blake Wood, Colten Black and Nathan Hayes each were runner-up.

Freshmen Dakota Ballard and Dylan Cain were third place finishers, while Joe Buening and Jack Michalski finished fifth.

Champs: Drew Neisius and Joel Chase.

Runner-up: Zack Bartosz, Brandon Butz, Blake Wood, Colten Black, Nathan Hayes.

3rd: Dakota Ballard and Dylan Cain.

5th: Joe Buening and Jack Michalski.

The Pirates next compete in the Ben Davis Super 16 Tournament Saturday, Dec. 28.
