Pirate boys swim second at Centerville Invitational

Centerville — The Greensburg boys swim team finished runner-up in the boys-only Centerville Invitational Saturday.

The Pirates scored 256 points to finish second behind Batesville’s 337.

Host Centerville finished third with 249, Hagerstown scored 122 for fourth, and Rushville placed fifth with 79 points.

Drew Reiger won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:06.04 and the 500 freestyle (5:49.52), both being personal-best times. Brady Niles took the 50 freestyle in 24.14.

Greensburg’s 200 medley relay was second and swam a season-best by two seconds. The quartet of Nick Oesterling, Brady Niles, Andrew Schroeder and Spencer Kuehl, tallied a time of 1:50.82.

The Pirate 400 free relay won in a big showdown against Batesville. Kuehl, Oesterling, Reiger and Niles clocked a time of 3:45.43 to win.

The Pirate 200 free relay team of Schroeder, Jake Buening, Todd Overmyer and Reiger, took second in a time of 1:49.84.

Taking third in the 50 free was Spencer Kuehl in 24.91, while Oesterling was third in the 100 fly in 1:03.52.

Oesterling placed second in the 100 back in 58.17. Niles took second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.69.

Other places:

Fourth: Andrew Schroeder, 200 IM (2:40.23); Kuehl, 100 free (57.51).

Sixth: Buening, 100 back (1:22.67); Gavin Amburgey, 100 breast (1:28.08).

Seventh: Todd Overmyer, 500 free (6:41.13); Overmyer, 200 free (2:25.22); Schroeder, 100 fly (1:11.87).

Eighth: Amburgey, 100 free (1:12.16).

Ninth: Jadrian Woods, 100 free (1:14.35).

Eleventh: Woods, 100 fly (30.85); Buening, 200 free (2:41.71).
