GB 9th girls compete in EIAC
The Greensburg ninth grade girls basketball team competed recently in the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference tournament.
In Game One, Franklin County defeated Batesville 31-19. In Game Two, Greensburg fell to South Dearborn 30-24.
Franklin County defeated East Central 40-36 in Game Three. Rushville defeated South Dearborn 40-17 in Game Four, setting up the championship game at Connersville between Franklin County and Rushville.
GB 9th boys in EIAC tourney
The Greensburg freshman boys basketball team fell in the first round of the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference.
East Central defeated Lawrenceburg 34-21 in Game One. Connersville beat Rushville 40-30 in Game Two. Batesville topped Franklin County 42-31 in Game Three, and South Dearborn beat Greensburg 36-28 in Game Four.
GB 8th girls now 3-0
The Greensburg eighth grade girls basketball team improved to 3-0 with a 56-39 win over St. Louis. The Lady Pirates started out slow the first half, leading only by nine, but came out and played very well the second half.

GB 8B girls fall to St. Nicholas
The Greensburg 8B girls basketball team lost its season opener to host St. Nicholas 38-26.
The Lady Pirates were led by:
Scoring: Cameron Jones 10, Adrienne Horan 5, Ashley Bower 4, Gracie Maxwell 3, Taylor Klene 2, Jennifer McGuire 1.
Rebounds: Montana Whitaker 15, Maxwell 5, McGuire 5, Horan 4, Bower 4.
Steals: Jones 5, Horan 5, Maxwell 4, Whitaker 3, Bower 3.
GB 7A girls fall to St. Nicholas
The Greensburg 7A girls basketball team opened the season with a tough loss to St. Nicholas, 21-8.
The Pirates were lead in scoring by Anna Venable with four points, followed by Logan Hamer and Hope Franklin each scoring two.
GB 7A girls beat South
The Greensburg 7A girls basketball team beat South Decatur 35-17 in recent action.
Morgan Peetz led Greensburg with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Abbey Gommel added 5 points. Sydney Hogg and Madalyn Wickens each had 5 steals.
Annie Gant and Madison Owens led South with six points apiece. Hannah Ballard and Katie Vanderbur each scored two, while Karah Biddinger chipped in one.
NORTH DECATUR ROUND-UP
North 7th girls beat SW-Shelby
The North Decatur seventh grade girls basketball team opened the season with a 35-22 win over visiting Southwestern Shelby. The North girls led 18-17 at the end of the third quarter before pulling away.
Katie Kinker led her team in scoring with 18 points. Brittany Becker added six points, while Maddy Day contributed five. Abby Morrow, Kierstyn House, and Balee Osting rounded out the scoring with two each.
North’s seventh graders traveled to Hauser and were beaten soundly 33-11 on Jan. 30. Kierstyn House and Katie Kinker led the Lady Chargers in scoring with four points each. Abby Morrow added two and Bekak Netherton chipped in one.
North 8th girls win first two
The North Decatur eighth grade girls basketball team won the opening game of the year over Southwestern Shelby 48-44.
Rhegan Day led her team in scoring with 19 while Sarah Bohman added 15. Emily Dougherty followed with eight and Kiara Nobbe finished the scoring with six.
The eighth graders won their second game of the season over the Hauser Lady Jets, 40-38 in overtime.
The Lady Chargers trailed most of the game, struggling with poor shooting and foul trouble. Late in the fourth quarter, North scored on three consecutive offensive rebounds to tie the game. Kiara Nobbe and Rhegan Day came up big from the line in the fourth quarter and overtime hitting, 7-for-8.
Day led her team in scoring with 13 points and Emily Dougherty added nine. Jesse Closser followed with six. Sarah Bohman and Kiara Nobbe added five each, and Paige Howell had one point.

SD 7th girls fall to Jennings County
The South Decatur seventh grade girls basketball team fell to host Jennings County 30-17 in recent action.
Karah Biddinger tallied five points, six rebounds and three steals. Annie Gant posted five points and four steals. Hannah Ballard scored five points, and Madison Owens chipped in two points and five rebounds.
