Lady Pirates fall to Knights in opener

Greensburg trailed 6-0 after four innings, but scored two late runs to avoid a shutout.

Schmidt scored the first run after reaching on a walk. She advanced on a passed ball and a Schultz walk. Asche then singled in Schmidt.

Greensburg plated the second run in the sixth inning. Biltz hit an infield single, then stole second base. She later scored on an error.

Phillips started on the mound, pitching seven innings of six-hit, two-walk ball.

“We came out tight on defense, but settled down,” said Shook.
