Lady Chargers active on diamond

— The North Decatur softball team wrapped up a busy four-day stretch of action with four games.

North played a weekend double-header against Hauser, sandwiched between road games against Cambridge City-Lincoln and Waldron.

North traveled to Cambridge City and lost a close game by a score of 3-1.

Junior Myra Steele recorded a single and scored the Lady Chargers’ only run. Senior Lindsay Nobbe, and freshmen Mary Hughes and Kylie Stier each tallied a single and a stolen base.

Myra Steele was injured in the bottom of the sixth, according to head coach Sam Field, and Stier finished the game for the Chargers.

North traveled to Hauser Saturday for a varsity doubleheader. Stier pitched both games of the double outing. North was led in hits by Stier, also a stolen base Mary Hughes who also had an RBI. North lost the first game 12-1.

North fell in the second game 21-0 to the Lady Jets.

Leading North in hits were Stier, Hughes, Anna Wallpe and Morgan McKinney.

The Lady Chargers picked up a conference win Monday night at Waldron, returning victorious 18-0.

North tallied hits off the bats of Myra Steele, two from Stier, two from Lindsay Nobbe, one from Mary Hughes and a triple from sophomore Anna Schwering and two RBIs.

Anna Wallpe had a double a single with an RBI, Kyra Spears had a triple and an RBI and Morgan Nobbe had a three-run triple.

Steele pitched a complete game, giving up four hits and struck out five.

North is now 1-4 on the season and 1-1 in the conference.
