Pirates run-rule Raiders 14-2 Friday
The Pirates scored 14 unanswered runs Friday, including 11 runs in the third inning, to beat South Ripley 14-2. The Raiders scored two in the first inning, but Greensburg tied it in the second.
Highlighting the big third inning was a 2-run home run off the bat of senior Austin Schultz. one of seven hits in the frame. The Pirates added a run in the fourth.
Schultz led Greensburg with four hits, while Holdsworth and Moeller each added two.
Burcham recorded eight strikeouts in three innings in his first start of the season, which was a winning one. He struck out three batters in the first inning. Riley Billieu pitched the final two innings in relief.
The Pirates tallied 12 hits, while Ripley tallied three.
Ripley committed four errors, while Greensburg committed three.

Greensburg next visits Connersville Tuesday, Franklin County Thursday and Jennings County Friday, before hosting South Decatur Tuesday. Thursday’s game opens Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference action.
