Pirate eighth girls cap unbeaten junior high career

Greensburg Daily News

---- — The Greensburg eighth grade girls basketball team concluded its season Monday night by winning the 4-way invitational.

The Lady Pirates finished off an undefeated junior high career. During Monday’s game, they defeated a very tough Greenfield Central team 34-18.

“We knew going into it that it was going to be a tough game for us,” said head coach Amy McFall. “The final score does not reflect the level of competitiveness between the two teams. The first three quarters were very close and could have been anyone’s game, but we were able to make a run in the fourth to come away with the victory. I am very impressed and pleased with the level of play that everyone brought tonight. We knew we needed to put four quarters of good team play together and that’s exactly what we did. I’m proud of the girls for not only tonight, but for being able to be undefeated these past two years-that’s not something many teams can do.”

Kyra Whitaker led Greensburg with 10 points, while Sierra Johnson scored nine. Bailey Meyer scored six points, Ashlynn Meyer scored four, Keirsten Lynette added three, and Gracie Maxwell chipped in two.
