Edinburgh — The North Decatur boys basketball team went into the third quarter tied with Edinburgh Monday night, but the host Lancers beat the Chargers 58-45.
The score was tied at 13-all after the first stop. Edinburgh led 26-24 at the half, but the game was tied at 37-all after three quarters.
The Lancers pulled away from North with a 21-8 fourth-quarter edge to win the Mid-Hoosier Conference matchup.
North is now 3-7 overall and 3-2 in the MHC, while Edinburgh is 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the MHC.
Sophomore Evan Wallpe led his team with a career-high 25 points. Sophomore Andrew Hocker followed with eight points, including two 3-pointers. Sophomore Dayne Lecher scored seven, including his own pair of triples. Sophomores Donovan Meyer and Arek Holloway scored two apiece, while sophomore Luke Badgley added one free throw.
The North junior varsity team beat Edinburgh 31-29 in the first game. North ran off to a fast 8-2 start through the first eight minutes, and carried a 15-7 lead into the locker room. The Chargers overcame a 22-16 second-half advantage by the Lancers to win.
Ignacio Martinez led the North JV team with eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Derek Hocker followed with six points. Kyle Kramer and Cory Fasbinder scored five points apiece, while Landon Crites scored four. Ben Kinker added two and Luke Perdue chipped in one.
North travels to Class 3A Batesville Friday night and Class 4A East Central Saturday.
