Track season concludes for local boys

Connersville — The Greensburg, North Decatur and South Decatur boys track and field teams competed in the Connersville Regional meet Thursday night.

Winning the team regional championship was Center Grove with 99 points. Warren Central took second with 89.5 points, while Columbus North (55), Franklin Central (53) and Whiteland Community (40) rounded out the top five.

The only teams beside Greensburg that represented the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference to score points were seventh-place East Central (25.5) and Franklin County (5) in 20th. Waldron, a conference rival of North Decatur and South Decatur, placed 14th with 15 points. Edinburgh was 26th with two points. No other Mid-Hoosier Conference teams scored.

Greensburg senior Colin Evans tallied the highest placing on his team, marking a 124-07 for 11th in the discus throw.

Senior Ryan Martin placed 13th in the shot put with a mark of 44-03.50. Senior Peter Myers placed 1th in the shot with a mark of 40-09.5.

The Pirate 4x800 relay of freshman Michael Back, freshman Peyton Buening, freshman Francis Teague and senior Chase McCreary, was 13th in 9:09.53. The quartet of seniors Shane Ploeger, Ethan Amburgey, Averi Fultz, and sophomore Dillan Able, clocked a 16th-place time of 48.05.

Junior Sean Sellers recorded a no-height in the high jump.

North senior Nick Gehrich tallied a 10th-place mark of 125-04 in the discus throw.

North junior Kevin Nielsen competed in three events. He placed 12th in the 100-meter dash trials with a time of 11.72 seconds. He took 13th in the 300-meter hurdles in 42.68, and recorded a no-height in the high jump.

South junior Chris Meadows competed in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 16.95 for 15th. Meadows tallied a time of 45.30 in the 300 hurdles for 13th.

The South 4x800 relay team of sophomore Sam Studler, freshman Justyn Clark, sophomore Nick Grissom and Chris Meadows, took 16th in 9:33.93.

The 4x100 relay of sophomore Josh Campos, sophomore Randall Canady, junior Chris Johannigman and Meadows, took 14th in 47.12.
