The North Decatur junior high football teams hosted Triton Middle School on Sept. 12.
In its second game of the season, the seventh graders unfortunately came up empty-handed 34-0.
Tyler Walterman lead the Chargers with 44 yards rushing, followed by Michael Schwartz with 11 yards. On defense, Schwartz lead the team with five tackles and PJ Fisse followed with three.
Head coach Tom Crowe said even though the boys had not played a game since Aug. 19, the team showed much improvement.
The eighth graders won 21-12. North’s offense was led by Jacob Hornberger with 137 yards rushing, followed by Owen Kinker with 114 yards. Noah Williams and Dustin Bokelman stepped up and did an outstanding job blocking, according to Tom Crowe.
For the defense, Evan Smith had eight tackles and two fumble recoveries, while Jake Hartman had six tackles. The eighth grade Chargers are now 2-1.
