Charger harriers take on Twisters

The North Decatur cross country teams competed in a dual meet against Oldenburg Academy Tuesday night.

Oldenburg won on both sides as the boys took the race 15-40, and the Lady Twisters won 18-44.

“Oldenburg has two really good teams this year,” said North head coach Scott Johnson. “The majority of our runners got their home course PR’s tonight, yet we still took two pretty lopsided losses. My hat goes off to Oldenburg. I wish them the best for the rest of the season. I think they have a chance to do very well once sectional-time arrives.”

The boys winner was OA’s Kurt Eckstein with a time of 18:11. Brady Holloway led North with a time of 19:46.

OA’s Sarah Billingsley won the girls race with a time of 19:24. North sophomore Megan Hoover led the Lady Chargers with a third-place 20:57.

“As for our kids, despite both teams taking losses,” said Scott Johnson, “I am still very happy with them and their effort. Our times keep improving and that is all I can ask of them.”
