Chili supper tonight at South

There will be a chili supper this Saturday, Jan. 19 before the varsity boys basketball game between host South Decatur and Greensburg. The supper will benefit the 4H Tree City Mavericks, and take place at South Decatur High School from 4:30 p.m. until halftime of the junior varsity game.



North 8th girls fall

The North Decatur eighth grade girls basketball team fell to Southwestern Shelby 35-24.

Scoring for the Lady Chargers were Olivia Siefert with 11 points and six rebounds. Ally Gauck finished the game with six points and four rebounds. Emily McCorkle, Mariah Lozier and Morgan Mauer finished with two points each. Chelsea Hitchcock chipped in one point.



Pirate 7A boys beat Waldron

The Greensburg 7A boys basketball team got past Waldron 32-23. The Pirates jumped out to an early lead 13-0 after the first stanza and took a 22-9 margin at halftime. Luke Lozier had a nice game with 18 points and five boards. Kyle Sellers also had five boards and scored 13 points with two treys. Tucker Bailey had one free throw, four assists and four steals. Cody Bischoff had a good effort on the boards with six and Brayton Owens pulled down five and had three steals.

The Pirates will meet Brookville next Tuesday at home to end the regular season. The tourney will be at Rushville the following week.



Pirate 7B boys fall twice

The Pirate 7B boys fell short in two contests this week. They fell to Shelbyville by a score of 50-9. Gabe Caplinger scored five points for the Pirates, along with three from Kellen Thomas.

In the second game, Connersville won 53-19. The Pirates’ Jonathan Brown was 4-for-4 from the field for nine points. Taylon Hogg had three points, while Eric Fisse, Bryce Lang and Curtis Collins scored two each. Joshua Ankney collected four rebounds.

The Pirates are 0-8 on the season.



Pirate 7B girls win opener

The Greensburg girls 7B girls basketball team defeated Connersville in its season opener 28-13.

Gracie Maxwell led her team with 10 points. Ashley Bower scored eight points, while Kirstin Hersley added six. Scoring two apiece were Emma Hellmich and Abby Scheumann.
