Lady Pirates tally first win of the season

---- — The Greensburg girls varsity basketball team broke into the win column Tuesday night with a road win over a conference opponent, Franklin County, 39-25. The game did not count in the EIAC standings.

Six different Lady Pirates scored for head coach Mike Miller’s squad. Sophomore Taylor McIntosh led Greensburg with 11 points. Scoring six apiece were junior Jessica Banaschak, junior Abbey Denton and sophomore Keauna Schultz. Adding five apiece were senior Joanna Redelman and sophomore Maddi Hellmich.

The victory improves the Pirates’ season record to 1-6 overall.

The junior varsity team fell to the host Wildcats 35-27 in the first game. Samantha Cain led the JV Pirates with eight points. Scoring six apiece were Gabby Burton and Allie Geis. Sydney Meyer followed with three points, while sophomore Mary Kate Porter and freshman Claire Fleetwood each chipped in two.

The Lady Pirates next play Saturday, traveling to Connersville as the JV game tips off at noon.
