GB wrestling at Evansville Semi-State (at Ford Center), 9 a.m.

SD girls vs Rising Sun, 12 p.m. (Jac-Cen-Del Girls Sectional 60 Semi-Final)


GB boys vs South Decatur, 6 p.m. JV

Sectional games continue today

The Jac-Cen-Del Girls Sectional 60 tournament has been pushed back one day because of Friday’s winter weather. The semi-final game between South Decatur and Rising Sun was rescheduled for today at 12 p.m. Jac-Cen-Del and Hauser were scheduled to play the first semi-final at 10 a.m. The championship game is tonight at 8 p.m.

Pirates play Cougars Tuesday

The Greensburg and South Decatur JV and varsity boys basketball games, rescheduled for today, were postponed because of the winter weather.

The games will be played Tuesday, Feb. 18, with the JV game starting at 6 p.m.

Pirate 8th girls split pair

The Greensburg girls 8A basketball team traveled to Jennings County Thursday night and came out victorious, 39-27.

Greensburg stats:

Keirsten Lynette 10 pts, 7 rebounds, 1 steal; Gracie Maxwell 1 point, 2 rebounds; Kyra Whitaker 16 pts, 1 steal, 3 blocks; Sierra Johnson 2 pts, 4 rebounds, 1 assist; Bailey Meyer 4 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks; Ashlynn Meyer 4 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals, 1 block; Kirstin Hersley 1; rebound, 1 assist, 1 steal; Ashley Bower 2 pts, 1 rebound.

The B team lost in a hard fought game in overtime, 24-21.

Greensburg stats:

Gracie Maxwell 4 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block; Jennifer McGuire 2 points, 4 rebounds; Erica Evans 3 rebounds, 2 steals; Sierra Johnson 7 points, 5 rebounds, 3 blocks; Montana Whitaker 5 rebounds, 4 blocks; Adrianne Horan 3 steals; Taylor Klene 3 rebounds; Madison Fields 1 steal; Kirstin Hersley 8 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block.

Pirate 7A girls beat Jennings County

The Greensburg 7A girls basketball team defeated Jennings County Thursday night, 53-42.

Leading scorer was Morgan Peetz with 15 points, 10 rebounds, 9 steals, 5 blocked shots, and 6 assists. Abbey Gommel ended with 10 points and 5 rebounds. Sydney Hogg and Madalyn Wickens ended with 8 points each. Anika Scripture added 6. Kirsten Adams added 4 points with 4 rebounds and Kierra Cooney finished with 2 points.

The 7B team lost to Jennings County 30-18. Logan Hamer led her team with seven points.

The girls play again on Monday against Sunman-Dearborn.


North J.H. girls split vs St. Louis

The North Decatur Junior High Girls Basketball teams traveled to St. Louis (Batesville) Thursday to play the Lady Cardinals.

North’s seventh grade team was victorious, winning 29-16. Leading scorer for the Lady Chargers was Katie Kinker with 12 points. She was followed closely by Brittany Becker with eight. Bekak Netherton had four. Abby Morrow and Maddy Day each had 2 points. Finishing out the scoring was Kierstyn House with 1 point. Becker and Abbi Eldridge were outstanding defensively, while Netherton keeps jumping up and grabbing those rebounds for her team.

In the second game of the night, St. Louis held on to win 34-31. The eighth grade Lady Chargers went into the fourth quarter down by 12 points and had a chance to tie the game with six seconds left on the clock.

North was very balanced in scoring with Sarah Bohman with 7, Emily Daughtery 6, Rhegan Day 6, Jesse Closser 5, Paige Howell 4, Kiara Nobbe 2 and Lily Meyer 1. Closser completely shut down their leading scorer in the second half while Bohman owned the boards.

Both teams are 3-2 for the season.

Upcoming games include home games Monday, Feb. 17 versus Edinburgh and Tuesday versus Jac-Cen-Del.
