South’s win marks Black’s 100th

Greensburg — The South Decatur boys basketball team defeated Oldenburg Academy Saturday night, 53-23 at home. The Cougars, which improve to 2-0 on the season, have beaten the Twisters 11 of the past 12 times in the regular season.

The victory signaled head coach Tom Black’s 100th career win as a high school boys basketball head coach.

South senior Byron Balser single-handedly outscored the Twisters, totaling a game-high and career-best 27 points.

Senior Josh Miller followed with six points, while junior Taylor Kopplin and senior Ben Tichenor each scored five. Senior Cameron Agnew scored four and senior Jordan Hatton added three. Junior Chris Johannigman added two, and junior Andrew Wullenweber chipped in one.

Miller led South in rebounding with 11.

The junior varsity Cougars beat the Twisters 40-38 in the first game.

South, now 2-0, will host North Decatur (0-2) Friday night for an annual rivalry matchup.
