Tye Fleetwood led the Pirates with 15 points. Riley Burkert followed with seven, while Drew Foster scored six. Josiah Buell and Cody Bausback each scored five, while Kevin Beaver added two.

All statistics are unofficial.

Pirate 7A boys fall to Greendale

The Greensburg boys 7A basketball team lost 44-38 on a road trip to Greendale. The young Pirates trailed the entire game, down 25-21 at the half. Greendale pulled away 35-26 as the third period ended. Greensburg, now 3-1, made a late run to cut the lead to three with a minute to play. The Pirates then had to foul and Greendale made their foul shots for the win.

“We need to do a better job in rebounding the ball,” said coach Bob Barker. “Greendale was much better tonight.”

Luke Lozier led all scorers with 21 points, followed by Kyle Sellers with 11. Nick Heil and Brayton Owens scored three apiece. Owens had a nice game to lead the Pirates in rebounding with five, followed by Tucker Bailey with 3, Cody Bischoff with 2, Lozier with 2 and Sellers and Heil with one each. Bailey led in assists with three.

Pirate 8A boys fall to Greendale

The Greensburg 8A team traveled to Greendale Tuesday and suffered a tough 25-20 loss. Greensburg started the game with a 4-0 lead and took a 10-8 deficit into half. Greensburg then built a lead of 20-12 with three minutes left into the fourth quarter, but could not weather the storm of a Greendale rally.

According to coach Andrew Ruble, the kids fought very hard and had a stretch in the second half, only letting up two points in 11 minutes of game play.

Ruble pointed out that excessive turnovers resulted in Greendale taking a 21-20 lead with 48 seconds left.

Greensburg then could not get a shot to win, and started to foul which resulted in a 25-20 loss. Greg Schroeder and Trevor Reynolds each led their team with five points; Dillon Merritt and Harlan Dolan each with four, and Louis Moore with 2. Chase Hogg led the team with two steals and Louis Moore recorded seven rebounds.
