North eighth boys fall to Bulldogs
The North Decatur eighth grade boys basketball team fell to Batesville in its most recent action, 44-22. Batesville took an 11-4 lead after the first quarter and 17-12 at the half, on its way to doubling up the Chargers on the night.
Ben Kinker led North with 11 points. Kyle Kramer scored eight, while Nick Moorman chipped in three.
Co-Ed Volleyball League offered
The Decatur County Parks and Recreation Department is offering a co-ed volleyball league set to begin on Monday, Jan. 6, 2013.
Rosters and the team entry fee of $185 must be turned in to the Parks Department office no later than Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012. Player fees of $10 for in-county players, and $15 for out-of-county players, must be paid prior to the first match. Rosters are limited to 12 players.

South hosts Hoopin’ for Heroes Dec. 13
The South Decatur girls basketball team will host a Hoopin' For Heroes game against Morristown Thursday, Dec. 13. The evening will start at 5 p.m. with a dinner catered by Texas Roadhouse (cost is $10). A silent auction will begin at that time as well. The Lady Cougars will battle with Morristown at 6:30 p.m. South hopes to have military personnel at the game to be honored as well.
All donations and proceeds from silent auction will be for the USO OF INDIANA. South head coach Amy Macy said she hopes for a good turnout for the event. Tickets can be purchased through Kelly Fox at SDHS, email Amy at firstname.lastname@example.org, or purchase at the boys’ South vs North game on Friday.
