Decatur County Sports Digest Feb. 5

Posted below are the Decatur County sports digest announcements for Feb. 5.

Greensburg events called off

The Greensburg boys basketball games against visiting South Decatur have been called off because of winter weather Tuesday. No makeup dates have been announced as of Tuesday night.

The boys swimming home meet against Oldenburg Academy and Eastern Hancock have been postponed and not rescheduled.

The Greensburg girls junior varsity and varsity games at Jac-Cen-Del were also called off.

North events called off

The North Decatur boys basketball games at Lawrenceburg Tuesday night have been called off because of winter weather. The North Decatur girls basketball home games against Hauser were also called off. No makeup dates have been set for any games.

Girls sectional matchups set

The IHSAA Girls Sectional tournament drawings were announced Sunday afternoon.

The Greensburg girls drew a third meeting this season against Batesville in Game Two of the Batesville Sectional 29, Tuesday Feb. 11 at 7:30.

The North Decatur girls drew Austin for Game Two of the Milan Sectional 45, Tuesday Feb. 11 at 7:30.

The South Decatur girls play Shawe Memorial Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 7:30 in the Jac-Cen-Del Sectional 60.

Rushville pre-selling boys tickets

Rushville will be pre-selling tickets for Friday’s game, Feb. 7, against Greensburg.

Tickets went on sale Monday morning and will remain on sale through noon on Friday Feb. 7.

In all, 1,000 tickets were made available.

GB Elem. wrestling starting soon

The Greensburg Elementary Wrestling season was scheduled to start Tuesday night with the first practice, but was called off because of the winter weather.

This is for children from Kindergarten to fifth grade. Children will be taught the basics and fundamentals of wrestling. Each team will have at least one adult coach and another coach from our high school wrestling team.
