Greensburg selling sectional tickets
Greensburg High School will be selling boys basketball sectional tickets starting today (Wednesday, Feb. 26) from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. through Monday, March 3.
Only season tickets can be purchased for $10. Session tickets for each night can only be purchased at the door on the night of the game for $6.
Pirate seventh girls split two
The Greensburg seventh grade girls basketball teams split a pair of games to start the week.
The 7A Lady Pirates defeated South Dearborn on Monday night 44-17. Morgan Peetz was the leading scorer with 17 points. Abbey Gommel had 14 points. Sydney Hogg, Colleen Bray, Maddy Wickens, Anika Scripture, Haylee Ott, and Kirsten Adams each added two.
The 7B Lady Pirates lost to Jac-Cen-Del 22-17. Logan Hamer led the Pirates with six points, followed by Anna Venable with four. Megan Kaiser added three. Meghan Stapp and Claire Dennett each had two points.
Sectional pairings announced
The pairings were announced Sunday for the IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament.
The Greensburg boys, host of Sectional 29, will play South Dearborn in Game One on Tuesday, March 4 at 6 p.m. The winner will play Franklin County.
Rushville and Lawrenceburg play Game Two Tuesday, March 4 at 7:30. Batesville awaits the Game Two winner for Friday at 7:30.
The South Decatur boys drew a first-round bye for the South Decatur Sectional 60. The host Cougars will play the winner between Rising Sun and Shawe Memorial.
The North Decatur boys will play Austin in first round of Southwestern (Hanover) Sectional 45. North will play Game One, which is Tuesday, March 4 at 6 p.m. The winner will play South Ripley, which drew a bye.
Greensburg Youth Baseball signups
Greensburg Youth Baseball signups will be starting tomorrow. Registration will take place on Wednesdays, starting tomorrow (Feb. 26), from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Decatur County Parks and Recreation. Signups will take place on Saturdays beginning on March 1, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Parks and Rec.
The last day for registration is Wednesday, March 26.
The cost is $50 for the first child, $40 for the second child, $30 for the third, and $20 for any additional child.

Open swim offered on Sundays
The Decatur County Parks and Recreation Department is offering open swimming at the Greensburg Community High School.
The pool will be open, free of charge, on Sundays from 2 to 5 p.m. beginning on Sunday, Feb. 9 and continuing through Sunday, March 16.
Non-swimmers under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Pirate 8th girls split two games
The Greensburg eighth grade girls basketball teams split a pair of games Monday night.
The 8A girls hosted South Dearborn and won 49-26.
According to head coach Amy McFall, South Dearborn came out and played very tough defense that was hard to handle for three quarters. McFall said Sierra Johnson, Keirsten Lynette, and Kirstin Hersley stepped up to give the Pirates a large lead.
Greensburg stats: Keirsten Lynette: 8 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block; Gracie Maxwell: 4 points, 5 rebounds; Kyra Whitaker: 2 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals; Sierra Johnson: 10 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block; Bailey Meyer: 12 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals; Ashlynn Meyer: 4 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal, 1 block; Kirstin Hersley: 7 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks.
The Lady Pirates’ 8B team visited Jac-Cen-Del Monday for the final game of the season, falling 57-33.

Decatur County Youth Soccer registration open

Spring Season Overview -
There will be six regular season games played on Saturdays. Most games will be played between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturday mornings.
All games will be played at the home fields next to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office. Practices will begin the week of March 24. Games will be on March 29, April 5, 12, 19, 26, and May 10.
