The North Decatur football team fell to visiting Edinburgh 42-20 in a game that saw the Chargers trail by just one touchdown before the Lancers piled on the points.
North sophomore Donovan Meyer scored all three North touchdowns on quarterback keepers, but the Chargers were unable to contribute. Meyer scored on runs of one, two and three yards.
Meyer passed 5-for-15 for 91 yards. Senior Clay Bedel caught five catches for 91 yards.
Sophomore Derek Hocker rushed 15 times for 70 yards. Senior Kevin Nielsen carried six times for 48 yards, and Donovan Meyer rushed 13 times for 24 yards.
Senior Grant Ricke scored both two-point conversions.
North, playing with less than half of its roster dressed for half the season, finishes at 2-8 after winning its first two games. Injuries mounted for head coach Garry Sauley’s team, making a challenging season an uphill climb. Edinburgh improves to 5-5.
