Greensburg — The Greensburg junior varsity softball team fell to visiting Rushville last Monday, 16-13, despite outhitting the Lions 16-11.

The girls got behind early came back, gave up the lead and again fought to get it within three runs. They were finally shut down by three runs.

“As they have all season so far, have never given up,” said coach Russell Wilhoit, “play with a lot of energy and have came a long way since the first of the season.”

Wilhoit said Greensburg was scheduled to play five games this week, but rain forced cancellations at Jennings County and Jac-Cen-Del. South Dearborn cancelled a double-header.

“Next week will be a very busy week for the very young Lady Pirates,” said Wilhoit. Greensburg travels to Shelbyville Monday for a 5 p.m. game, visits Franklin County Tuesday at 5 p.m., and Franklin Central in Indianapolis for a freshman game featuring the same players.

Batesville travels to Greensburg on Thursday for a rematch at 5 p.m. Friday. Jennings County visits Greensburg for a makeup of a rained out game last week. and Whiteland visits for a freshman double-header that starts at 10 a.m.
