The Greensburg softball program wrapped up its 2014 season with an awards banquet Monday.
“At the beginning of the season we talk about improving upon the previous year,” said four-year head Greensburg coach Jake Shook.
The 2014 team improved on the 2013 season, finishing 21-6 and 12-2 in conference. The Lady Pirates finished second place in conference behind a very good South Dearborn team, and went 2-0 against East Central this season to make it three straight wins over them.
Greensburg lost to four teams all year, three bigger Class 4A schools and one 3A school. Two of the four went on to win their sectionals.
With 12 of our 13 players returning off of our sectional roster we are ready to take the next step in 2015,” said Shook.
Awards are as follows: Emma Taylor – Freshman Batting Average; Gabby Burton – Varsity Most Improved; Holly Reed – Freshman Mental Attitude; Britney Biltz – Varsity MVP, Batting Average, All –Conference, and ICGSA 2014 All-District Player; Chelsea Hersley – All-Conference; Keauna Schultz – All-Conference; Paige Brogan – JV Mental Attitude; Haylee Owens – Varsity Most Outstanding Pitcher and All-Conference; and Sydney Meyer – Varsity Mental Attitude.
