GREENSBURG – The Mad Technical Services 10 and under softball team recently won the softball championship at the Decatur County Youth Sports Complex.
There were seven teams total and the team of 13 girls finished third out of seven for the season.
“Those girls have improved like you would not believe from when we first started not knowing anything to now when they listen and play as a team. I can move them to any position and they can play it,” Manlief said.
The championship was a double elimination series of playoff games. The Mad Technical Services team lost their first game, but won the next seven games, finishing ahead of the other teams and claiming the championship title. The girls had to play double header games two days in a row, which coach Michelle Manlief said was no easy task.
“We lost right off the bat and had to work harder to come back to win the championship,” Manlief said. “The back to back double headers were hard, but we did it.”
According to Manlief, the support and assistance from the girls’ parents was a massive help this year.
“One of the best things about coaching this season was the parents. Anything I asked for, they did. Dave and I would like to thank one of the best groups of parents we’ve had over the years for stepping up and helping any way they could and supporting the team.”
