The Chargers improve to 2-2 on the season.

North eighth boys fall to Milan

The North Decatur eighth grade boys basketball team fell to Milan 42-33. Milan led 14-4 after the first quarter, which was too much to overcome.

“We dug ourselves too deep a hole in the first for the second game in a row,” said coach Mike Blauvelt, “but played hard to get back into the game.”

Leading North in scoring was Ben Kinker with 10 points. Ian Schmid followed with nine points, while Kyle Kramer scored eight. Nick Moorman added four and Matt Kacher chipped in two.

Pirate 7A boys beat Spartans

The Greensburg 7A boys basketball team improved to 3-0 with a 35-33 win over Connersville Monday. The Pirates led 8-6 at the end of the first period before the Spartans regained the lead at the half, 18-17.

Luke Lozier controlled the boards with eight and scored 22 points, missing only one shot from the field. Kyle Sellers had nine points as he continues to improve offensively. He also had a season high five boards. Cody Bischoff had two points and two steals. Tucker Bailey dished out seven assists in a great effort looking for teammates, according to coach Bob Barker.

“Nick Heil and Brayton Owens are improving game by game with four rebounds each,” said Barker.

Heil finished out the scoring with two points. Gus Gregory, Gabe Caplinger and Ty Hall had limited play and Eric Fisse joined the 7A team but did not play.

Pirate 8A boys fall to Panthers

The Greensburg 8A boys basketball team visited Jennings County Thursday and fell 51-29.

“I thought we played much better than the game Tuesday and are showing improvement every day in practice,” said head coach Andrew Ruble.

Greensburg was down seven points after the first and 18 at half. Despite struggling in the second quarter, the Pirates stayed with it and were only outscored by three in the second half.

“This was a very good Jennings County team and I am proud of how hard our kids played,” said Ruble.

Dillon Merritt with led Greensburg with eight points, Trevor Reynolds scored five, Louis Moore four, and Greg Schroeder and Chase Hogg three apiece. Sam Slusher, Brent Bowling, and Kamron Sims each added two.
