Pirate Nation hoping for Blue Royalty tonight

Greensburg Daily News

Indianapolis — The Greensburg cheerleading squad, with the help of senior Chelsie Kuntz (left), guides the crowd assembled after the Semi-State victory through a new cheer that it will use tonight during the State Championship game.

The thousands of supporters affectionately known as Pirate Nation, will be cheering on the Greensburg boys basketball team as the Pirates pursue the IHSAA Class 3A State Championship. A state title would be the first in the history of team sports at Greensburg. The school sold about 2,800 tickets this week, according to athletic director Bill Edwards.

The team’s following, literally, will begin hours before the opening tipoff. A team caravan plans to leave the high school parking lot at 3:15 p.m., and anyone interested in participating is advised to be there by 3 p.m. The squad was planned to receive an escort from local law enforcement vehicles as the team set off for Indianapolis.
