Double-winner Pake breaks school record

St. Leon — The Greensburg girls track and field team placed fourth out of the six teams in the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference meet, scoring 56 points. Batesville won with 160.

“Many of the ladies performed their personal bests and were very competitive in their individual events,” said girls head coach Katina Tekulve.

Freshman Shelby Pake was a double winner for Greensburg, taking the 1600- and 3200-meter runs. Pake also broke the school record in the 1600, with a new mark of 5:29.14. The record previously set by Mandy Fry had stood since 1989.

Pake also won the 3200 with a new PR of 11:52.76, and the second-fastest time in school history.

Mary Kamman posted two third-place finishes in throwing events. She set a new PR in the shot with a mark of 33-05. Kamman set a new career best in the discus (106-11).

Freshman Taylor McIntosh tallied a third place in the 100 dash with a time of 13.19, a new PR. McIntosh was fourth in the 200 in 27.49.

Also taking third was the 4x100 relay team of Sheridan Roberts, McKella Lynette, Cara Zeigler and Kasey Moeller in 54.73.

The 4x800 team of Pake, senior Ericka Carman, Abby Layman and Mary Kate Porter was fourth in 11:35.

McKella Lynette was fifth in the long jump (14-04).

The 4x400 relay of Layman, Porter, Zeigler and senior Ashton Lunsford, was fifth with a new team best time of 4:54.19.

Other Personal bests include:  Kasey Moeller- 100 (13.81); 200 (29.27); Ericka Carman in the 4x800 and in 800 (3:01.98); Porter in 800 (2:52.64); Zeigler in 4x400.

“With such solid performances and personal improvements, the Lady Pirates are ready to compete at Sectionals on Tuesday at Franklin County.”

Girls team scoring:  1. Batesville 160; 2. East Central 138.5; 3. South Dearborn 106; 4. Greensburg 56; 5. Franklin County 22.5; 6. Lawrenceburg 8.

The girls sectional starts at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
