Decatur County sports digest announcements for May 18

Greensburg — Posted below are the Decatur County sports digest announcements for May 18.

Baseball Sectional tournament draws set

The IHSAA baseball sectional tournament draws were set earlier this week.

In the Greensburg Sectional 29 tournament, Greensburg will play Batesville Thursday, May 22 at 5 p.m. in Thursday’s first game. The winner will play the winner of the game between Franklin County and Lawrenceburg, Friday at 7:30.

North Decatur will play South Ripley in the South Ripley Sectional 45, Wednesday at 5 p.m. The winner will play the winner between Austin and Southwestern (Hanover), Thursday at 5 p.m.

South Decatur, in the Shawe Memorial Sectional 60 tournament, will play Hauser Thursday at 7:30 p.m. after a first-round bye. On Wednesday, Rising Sun will play Oldenburg Academy, and Jac-Cen-Del will play Shawe Memorial. South or Hauser will play the winners of Wednesday’s games in the Sectional Championship, Monday at 5 p.m.

Softball Sectional tournament draws set

The IHSAA softball sectional tournament draws were set Thursday morning.

The Greensburg softball team will host the Greensburg Sectional 29 tournament. The Lady Pirates host Franklin County Tuesday, May 21 at 5 p.m.

North Decatur softball will play in the Switzerland County Sectional 45. The Lady Chargers have bye and will play Milan Tuesday, May 21 after the first game at 5 p.m.

South Decatur softball will compete in the Rising Sun Sectional 60. The Lady Cougars play Jac-Cen-Del Tuesday, May 21 after the 5 p.m. first game.

DCYSC fall registration open

The Decatur County Youth Soccer Club is opening fall season registration via the Decatur County Youth Soccer Club website www.dcysc.org.

Register for the DCYSC Fall Soccer Season now as registration ends June 30.

YMCA extends T-Ball registration

The Decatur County Family YMCA has extended its registration for 3-6 year olds for their T-Ball Leagues (Age Divisions depend on registration numbers) to Saturday, May 25. The original deadline was Monday, May 20.

Interested families can sign up their youth at the Y and building hours can be found on their website, which is www.decaturcountyfamilyymca.org. For more details about the league, please contact Ryan Gelhaus at (812) 663-9622 or ryang@dcfymca.org.

The Y does not turn away community members for inability to pay, and scholarships are available.
