Lady Chargers fall to Patriots in opener

Liberty — The North Decatur softball team fell to host Union County 9-4 in its season opener Tuesday night.

The Lady Chargers got on the board first in the first inning, but the Patriots scored three times in the first and led the rest of the way.

North junior Myra Steele started the game and was later relieved by freshman Kiley Stier.

Driving in runs for North were Steele, senior Lindsay Nobbe and freshman Morgan McKinney, who hit a double and a sacrifice.

The Chargers tallied five hits, while the Patriots tallied six.

The teams combined for 11 errors, with Union County committing six.
