South linksters open at North tri meet

Greensburg — The North Decatur boys golf team hosted a tri meet Monday night against conference rivals South Decatur and Waldron.

South won, beating second-place North 168-182 on the Meadow Nine of North Branch Golf Course, Par 36.

South junior Adam Fry earned meet medalist honors with a 41.

Junior Andrew Wullenweber and sophomore Brayden Helms each shot a 42, while senior Dustin Huff followed with a 43.

South head coach Josh Grossman noted that the higher scores were not indicative of what his team is capable of shooting.

Freshman Cory Hastings added a 46 for South, and South sophomore Nick Schwering shot a 50.

North freshman Dayne Lecher led the Chargers with a 43, while Thomas Shobe followed with a 45.

“I am excited for the golf season to start, and I am looking forward to another good season from the team,” said head coach Josh Grossman.

Senior Dustin Huff returns as the number one golfer for the third year and a row, and leads seven returning letterman. The two returning juniors are Adam Fry and Andrew Wullenweber. New golfers are sophomore Nick Schwering and freshman Cory Hastings, who Grossman looks to for big improvements and the chance to play this year, even with all the returning players.
