The Greensburg girls basketball team rose above the .500 mark this season with a 55-40 win over host Lawrenceburg Saturday.
The Lady Pirates improved to 10-9 overall and 5-5 in the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference, thanks to one of the biggest offensive outputs on the season. The Pirates have won five of their past six games.
Greensburg led after every stop, including a 10-7 edge after the first eight minutes and 31-20 at halftime. The Pirates outscored the Tigers 17-10. A 10-7 fourth-quarter edge for the Tigers was not enough.
Freshman Taylor McIntosh scored a career-high 21 points, including 12 in the second quarter and eight more in the third. She shot 6-for-8 from the foul line and hit a trio of 3-pointers. She added four assists to help pace the offensive attack.
Sophomore Jessica Banaschak followed with 19 points and six rebounds. Senior Clare Owens added seven points, eight rebounds and four steals, while senior Shelby Ward added 6 points on a pair of 3-balls. Freshman Keauna Schultz chipped in two points. Senior Heidi Dance added seven rebounds.
“We continued to play strong defense and improve on offense,” said head coach Mike Miller. “We did an excellent job moving the ball throughout the game. I’m proud of the team we have become on defense, and the way we are improving offensively.”
The varsity squad shot 9-for-15 from the foul line.

The JV Pirates fell 38-32 to the Tigers, slipping to 6-13 on the season. Megan Schmidt led her team with six points, including 6-for-10 from the foul line. Maddi Hellmich followed with seven points. Kasey Moeller scored five, and Allie Geis followed with four. Kalynne Asche and Emma Wolter each added a 3-pointer.

Greensburg shot 8-for-14 from the foul line.
The Lady Pirates will celebrate Senior Night Tuesday against Jac-Cen-Del, honoring Audrey Geis, Heidi Dance, Clare Owens, Shelby Ward, Hayley Williams and Lillie Wolter.
