Pirate linksters fall to Spartans

Connersville — The Greensburg boys varsity golf team fell to Connersville Friday, 162-185, at Willowbrook Country Club.

Cody Wilson of Connersville was the meet medalist with a 3-over 39.

Leading Greensburg in scoring was Sam Marsh with a 41. Also scoring for Greensburg were freshmen Reid Domingo (47), Keegan McCullough (48) and Maverick Jones (49). Rounding out the varsity scores were Cody Bausback (51) and Brandon Butz (61).

“Connersville is a good team, but we fought a lot of different battles tonight,” said Greensburg second-year coach Bryce Mize. “The weather was tough on these guys. Also, without having senior Tyler Reiger, Sam Marsh was our only golfer with experience on this course. Our young guys have struggled a little bit to get acclimated to different courses, simply due to being inexperienced. On a good note, I was very proud of the way Bill Neumeier played today. He’s staying consistent and showing some promise this year.”

Greensburg lost the junior varsity match 181-208. Scoring for the Pirates were Bill Neumeier (46), Michael Blankman (52), Jake Hellmich (53), and Tyler Merritt (57).

After visiting Shelbyville Monday, the Pirate linksters next host conference rival East Central Tuesday for a 4:30 p.m. dual meet.
