Pirate baseball C-Team splits two
The Greensburg baseball C-Team hosted Lawrenceburg in a doubleheader last Saturday and split the day against the Tigers.
Lawrenceburg won the first game 13-6.
“I thought our kids started the game out rusty because of the first game of the year for us,” said head coach Andrew Ruble. “Lawrenceburg already had four games under their belt and it showed during the first game.
Greensburg won a thrilling second game, 16-15. Lawrenceburg loaded the bases with only one out, with the tying run at third base. However, the Pirates held their own and got the Tigers to ground out in a 1-2-3 double play to end the game.
The Pirates recorded 28 hits in two games. Austin Kane recorded five hits, David Lawrence and Nick Hughes four hits apiece to lead the Pirates. Austin Kane and Spencer Burkert both led the team with five RBI’s apiece on the day. Alex Pokrzywinski received the win in the second game while Tyler Brown recorded the save.
“I thought our kids played really well and battled every at bat, and I am excited for the rest of the season,” said Ruble.
