Cougar boys win Charger Invitational track meet

The South Decatur boys track and field team captured the Charger Invitational win Thursday afternoon at North Decatur.

The North track and field program hosted South, Milan, Knightstown, Tri High and Waldron.

The South boys scored 141 points, well ahead of Waldron’s second-place 91. The North boys scored 63 for fifth place.

The North girls scored 101 points for third place overall. Knightstown won with 149, while second-place Waldron scored 107.

The Cougar boys won five events. Luke May captured the discus win with a mark of 136 feet, four inches. Junior Sam Studler won the 400-meter dash in 54.89 seconds. Taylor Campos took the 200 dash in 24.69 seconds. Chris Meadows (17.07) placed third in the 110-meter hurdles.

Tristin Ralph was second in the high jump with a mark of 5-06.

South’s boys won two relays – the 4x100 and the 4x800.

For the North girls, Kaylee Rosenbach was second in the high jump (4-06). Junior Allie Louder took second in the discus (94-05) and fourth in the shot put (25-11.5).

For the North boys, senior Kevin Nielsen won the 100-meter dash in 11.55 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 42.82. Evan Wallpe captured the shot put with a mark of 42-11, and was second in the discus (133-0).

South Decatur’s Ashley Hamilton won the 1600-meter run in 6:22.08. She was third in the 800 in 2:56.11.

Senior Emily Mapes took third in the 3200 in 15:06.51.

Anekah Bower was fourth in the high jump (4-02).

South’s boys won two relays – the 4x100 and the 4x800.
