The South Decatur varsity baseball team reached the even mark of the season Tuesday.
The Cougars improved to 5-5 with an 11-7 win over visiting Indiana School for the Deaf.
South took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, and expanded it to 3-0 after three innings.
The Deaf Hoosiers put up six runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-3 lead. South, though, plated two runs in the bottom of the fourth, pulling to within a run at 6-5. The Cougars went ahead 7-6 with two more runs in the fifth, but Indiana Deaf tied it in the sixth.
A big sixth inning lifted the Cougars as South scored four runs to take the lasting 11-7 advantage.
South tallied eight hits and committed two errors, while the Deaf Hoosiers tallied seven hits and committed two errors.
Senior Austin Petro hit a triple, while senior Austin Ortman and freshman Hunter Seegers each hit a double.
Sophomore pitcher Aaron Haley notched the winning decision. Seegers started on the mound, while freshman Oakley Billingsley chipped in a relief appearance.
The Cougars host Trinity Lutheran tonight (Thursday) at 4:30 p.m., and travel to South Ripley tomorrow for a 5 p.m. game.
