The South Decatur baseball team fell to Jac-Cen-Del 10-0 in the semifinal of the Shawe Memorial Sectional 60 tournament.
Just one night after South senior Taylor Kopplin no-hit Oldenburg Academy to advance, the Cougars were held scoreless by the Eagles on just one hit.
JCD scored six runs in the second inning to put the game out of reach early. The Eagles added a run in the third, two more in the fourth and one more in the sixth to enact the 10-run rule.
South’s lone hit came in the bottom of the sixth off the bat of senior Austin Petro.
Jac-Cen-Del tallied nine hits and committed two errors, while the Cougars committed five errors.
Aaron Haley endured the loss for South, which finishes 12-11 on the season. Petro was Haley’s catcher.
Kopplin pitched the sixth inning in relief.
Dominique Norman was the winning pitcher for the Eagles.
Jac-Cen-Del beat Hauser for the sectional title Monday night.
The Cougars advanced to the sectional semifinal with a 5-0 win over Oldenburg Academy. South scored three runs in the third inning and two more in the sixth.
Kopplin pitched a no-hitter, his second of the season, striking out 14 Twisters along the way.
The Cougars tallied six hits and committed two errors, while OA committed three errors.
Kopplin also chipped in at the plate, hitting 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Freshman Hunter Seegers hit 3-for-4.
