Decatur County sports digest announcements for May 31

Greensburg — Posted below are the Decatur County sports digest announcements for May 31.

Boys golf sectional today

The Greensburg Country Club is hosting a 13-team sectional meet today, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Teams competing - including the three Decatur County teams, are Batesville, Columbus East, Columbus North, East Central, Greensburg, Hauser, Jac-Cen-Del, Lawrenceburg, Milan, North Decatur, Oldenburg Academy, South Dearborn and South Decatur.

Pirate duo named Academic All-State

Greensburg seniors Ethan Amburgey and Shane Ploeger each earned Academic All-State Honors for the 2013 track and field season, via the IATCCC (Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches).

To earn this honor, Amburgey and Ploeger had to have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and score a minimum of 1200 on the Math and Critical Reading of the SAT.

Allen Memorial Pool opens today

The Allen Memorial Swimming Pool is re-opening for the season today.

Admission fees are $3.25 for ages 5 through 17, and $3.50 for those 18-and-over. All ages are admitted at a discount rate of $2 between the hours of 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Discount passes valid for 20 visits are available for purchase at a cost of $50.

The pool is available for private parties nightly beginning at 7 p.m. Parties must be scheduled in the Parks Department office. Swimming lessons are also being offered. Three, two-week sessions are being offered beginning on Monday, June 3. Classes are offered Monday through Thursday at 9 a.m., 9:50 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. The charge is $30 per person/per session.

Pirate wrestling sets youth camp

The Greensburg Pirate Wrestling Team will be hosting a youth camp June 17-20 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the GCHS Fieldhouse. The cost is $20.

DCYSC fall registration open

The Decatur County Youth Soccer Club is opening fall season registration via the Decatur County Youth Soccer Club website www.dcysc.org.

Register for the DCYSC Fall Soccer Season now as registration ends June 30.
