North linksters win County Meet

Greensburg — The North Decatur boys golf team captured the win in the annual County Meet between Greensburg, South Decatur and North. Milan also competed as a fourth team.

The winning Chargers edged second-place Greensburg 163-164 on the Back Nine at the Greensburg Country Club. South took third place with a 178 and Milan scored 184 for fourth.

“It was a real good win for us,” said North head coach Dan Borns.

North freshman Dayne Lecher achieved his first career meet medalist honors, carding a 38 to lead the 18 golfers. Senior Thomas Shobe followed with a 40, and senior Charles Murray totaled 32. Senior Nick Stewart carded a 43, senior David Bokelman followed with a 48 and Trevor Crites carded a 50.

"Hats off to North Decatur," said Greensburg head coach Bryce Mize. "They played really well tonight. Our guys are really starting to round into mid-season form. We definitely still have some improvements to make, but we're getting closer each day. Hopefully these last couple of home meets will prepare us to take on conference rival Batesville on Monday."

For second-place Greensburg, Sam Marsh and Keegan McCullough each scored a 39. Maverick Jones followed with a 42, senior Tyler Reiger carded a 44, and Reid Domingo and Cody Bausback each added a 46.

"Sam was able to shake an early mistake to finish really well tonight," said Mize. "I was also happy to see Keegan post his second consecutive sub-40 round."

South Decatur was led by Adam Fry, who shot a 40. Cory Hastings followed with a 45, and Brayden Helms carded a 46. Andrew Wullenweber and Nick Schwering each shot a 47, and Seth Niese rounded out the scoring with a 52.
