Lady Chargers host two games

Greensburg — The North Decatur softball team played a pair of games at home this week.

The Lady Chargers fell to Indian Creek 12-5 Wednesday. North tallied six hits, including one for extra bases.

The Chargers stranded eight runners on base.

Head coach Sam Field said North played well defensively, committing just two errors.

Freshman Kiley Stier, according to Field, pitched a good game.

Recording hits for North were Myra Steele, Mary Hughes, Anna Wallpe, Maddy Ryle and Morgan Nobbe. Anna Wallpe added a double.

Hughes and Anna Wallpe each drove in two runs, and Steele added one.

North’s power not enough against Pacers

North played competitive but fell to Switzerland County 8-5 Thursday.

North outhit Switzerland County 17-12, but stranded 14 base runners and left the bases loaded three times.

The Pacers scored three runs in the first. North scored two in the second and three more in the fifth, but it was not enough.

Junior Anna Wallpe drove in two runs and hit a home run out of the park. She added two singles.

Steele drove in two runs, hitting a single and a double.

Morgan McKinney also drove in a run.

Singles:  Kiley Stier, Lindsay Nobbe 3, Alison Wallpe 3, Mary Hughes 2, Anna Wallpe 2, Maddy Ryle, Morgan McKinney, Morgan Nobbe.

Steals:  Stier, Ryle.

SAC’s:  M. Nobbe.

Field commended the team and the involvement of the freshmen for the positive attitude the team has maintained, despite key injuries and the overall youth.

“Can’t say enough about the way the freshmen are playing at the moment,” said Field. “Great job! The upperclassmen are leading well and helping the younger players.”
